We are The Others

Today felt like we'd fast forwarded and went straight from Africa to Fiji. But no, the white sands and AMAZING turqoise water of Mbudya Island is a mere five minute boat ride off the coast of Dar. We were treated to this "locals' beach" with Gil & Amy (friends from the yesteryears of Ibex) and their new baby girl (Grace - 14 months old). It was her first boat ride - check her out in the lifejacket, it's fabulous - and Jason's first time snorkeling. The tide was super low, so we were hovering JUST over some amazing coral reefs with a great variety of fish that we would never be creative enough to design.

Sounds like a lot of fun. See any big fish or just creative ones? When are you guys gonna be in Fiji? In other words, when are you gonna be almost home so you can come see us? We miss you guys. Know that we are often thinking of you and lifting you up to the father.

Just small ones. Not as bright as Nemo's home anemone, but if you just hovered for a minute little groups of them would emerge from their different homes among the coral. The largest thing we saw were the sea urchins - some were HUGE. Have you ever looked straight at one? They have some kind of irridescent, neon blue/pink/purple at the center ... you can only see it if you stare directly at it for a bit ... fascinating, it is.

We plan on being home May 27. Details to follow :).
